I love having a yard and my own barbecue. I have discovered a great new use for it. I call it Garbage Grilling. I stick my head in the fridge, pull out everything that is about to go bad and grill it.
I had a bag of potatoes that were beginning to experience cellular change. The best of them was wrinkled, puckered, and had quite a bit of white roots sprouting. The worst were going liquid and had to be tossed. But in an effort to salvage some of the bag I cut them long ways, about a centimeter thick, tossed them in olive oil, rosemary, salt and pepper, and slapped them on the grill. They were wonderful! Crispy on the outside and cooked on the inside. When I served them I dolloped a spoonful of sour cream mixed with chives.
The rest was some chicken that was getting freezer burn and some bell peppers.
It was killer. Garbage grilling. I'm totally doing this as often as possible.
