Oh Mighty iPod...

The big goal this weekend is to get this site redesigned and everything working! So we are plain jane right now.

Saw this on Iris' site and couldn't resist the meme. I love things like magic 8 balls and this is kind of a 21st century twist on that.

So the drill is, put your ipod on shuffle and hit "next" for the answer to each question.

How am I feeling today?

Hey Ya! (Outkast)

Uh oh, now I have to admit that I have this on my ipod. I do feel a bit like an outcast though since I found out I’ll probably get laid off.

Will I get far in life?

Better Together (Jack Johnson)

So I need to find a partner?

How do my friends see me?

Delta Lady (Joe Cocker)

I’d better listen to these lyrics again. I thought they were kind of sweet and sexy so this would be really nice.

When will I get married?

The Letter (Joe Cocker)

Hmmm, with lyrics like, “lonely days are gone” “couldn't live with out me no more” I’d say someone steps up to the plate soon.

What is my best friend's theme song?

The Scientist (Coldplay)

She is pretty analytical. This could fit.

What is the story of my life?

Caring is Creepy (The Shins)

This might hit closer than I like.

What was high school like?

Ring of Fire (Johnny Cash)

How am I going to get ahead in life?

You Still Believe in Me (Beach Boys)

I’m seeing a duo theme running here that is disconcerting for a happily single person like me.

What is the best thing about me?

California (Phantom Planet)

It is true I loved living there and really value the experience. Did it shape me in ways I didn’t realize?

How is today going to be?

Parachutes (Coldplay)

I think this is good in light of what I found out (see first item).

What is in store for this weekend?

Get it While You Can (Janis Joplin)

Sounds like opportunity!

What song describes my parents?

Maybe Not (Cat Power)

This could fit if I try real hard.

What song describes your grandparents?

Banana Pancakes (Jack Johnson)

Actually, this fits in the nonsensical title rather than literal word meaning. Being with my grandparents is usually surreal.

How is my life going?

I’m Waiting for the Day (Beach Boys)

Yeah, that fits. I feel like I’m always looking ahead rather than enjoying the time I’m in.

What song will they play at my funeral?

Just a Girl (No Doubt)

I wish. I’m really laid back until someone implies I can’t do something or I need protecting. I swear this is why I haven’t married yet. My head may explode if someone suggests that I found someone to take care of me.

How does the world see me?

Bring on the Dancing Horses (Echo & The Bunnymen)

Maybe this is more about the world seeing me as an oldie but a goodie? Although, I’ve often said that if people don’t roll their eyes when they talk about me then I’m not doing enough interesting stuff. That could imply a circus lifestyle.

Will I have a happy life?

Never Know (Jack Johnson)

The cursed non-answer answer. I suppose this is all about life is what you make of it, blah blah blah.

What do my friends really think of me?

Mercedes Benz (Janis Joplin)

Right on!

Do people secretly lust after me?

God Only Knows (Beach Boys)

Hey! I didn't ask why. This is taking a snarky turn.

How can I make myself happy?

Let’s Go Away For a While (Beach Boys)

I only have one album of theirs and a lot of songs are coming off this. The album is Pet Sounds which is a whole ‘nother match.

What should I do with my life?

She Came in Through the Bathroom Window (Joe Cocker)

I’ll take this as approach things a different way.

Will I ever have children?

Yellow (Coldplay)

Huh? Y for yes? Am I a coward? Is this whole exercise not a true fortune-telling method? No, it couldn’t be that…

What is some good advice for me?

Las Vegas Nights (Hootie & The Blowfish)

Does this mean to get away for a while or is it advising me to just do crazy stuff? Live for the moment? Wear clothes that sparkle more?

What is my signature dancing song?

We Never Change (Coldplay)

Dancing song, not dysfunctional song.

What do I think my current theme song is?

Belle (Jack Johnson)

Unlikely since I’m getting over a cold and I look it.

What does everyone else think my current theme song is?

Haunted When the Minutes Drag (Love & Rockets)

I can see this. Everyone is waiting for me to “settle down” and I don’t think I have convinced them that this isn’t necessarily my goal.

What type of men/women do you like?

Title and Registration (Death Cab for Cutie)

That’s right. A man who is bona fide.

What kind of kisser are you?

I Know There’s An Answer (Beach Boys)

You know, I'm beginning to suspect this is just a random selection of songs and that it doesn't mean anything...

What's your style?

Pet Sounds (Beach Boys)

This is probably true. I’m just glad this answer didn’t come up for the previous or next questions.

What kind of lover are you?

Bedbugs and Ballyhoo (Echo & The Bunnymen)

What would be playing on a first date?

Death-Defying (HooDoo Gurus)

C’mon, am I that bad?

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

San Francisco Bay Blues (Eric Clapton)

Back to earthquake country? He had better be worth it!

Why not the Beatles, "Came in Through the Bathroom Windows"?
